SEGA of America, Inc. today celebrates the one year anniversary of Wii Virtual Console videogame releases with the launch of the SEGA Genesis classic, Sonic 3D Blast, now available for download on the Wii Shop Channel. Prices start at 800 Wii Points for SEGA Genesis titles. Wii Points can be purchased online or at select retailers at an MSRP of $20 for 2,000 points.

Game Summary

Sonic 3D Blast - The evil Dr. Eggman (AKA Dr. Robotnik) stumbles upon an alternate dimension where some odd birds called Flickies have the ability to travel anywhere. In order to get help in his search for the Chaos Emeralds, Dr. Eggman transforms the Flickies into robots that will help him track down his coveted gems. Of course, it’s up to our favorite blue hedgehog Sonic to step in and save the day! Jump into this 3D adventure as Sonic or his buddy Tails, and collect the golden rings to help free the Flickies and defeat the Doctor!

The Wii Shop Channel serves as the Wii’s online storefront where visitors can redeem Wii Points to download games. Users need a high-speed Internet connection to access the Wii Shop Channel. Users can buy Wii Points at retail or with a credit card online from the Wii Shop Channel and redeem their Wii Points to download these and other classic games.
