GGL and The New York Football Giants Announce Launch of videogaming Community Partnership for 2008 Season
Posted by cwilson, 220 days ago Feb 2, 2008 17:01

In a move to extend their partnership and build on the success of GGLs presence at the 2007 Giants Game Day Live program that has heightened the "pre-game" experience for Giants fans before home games, GGL and the Super Bowl-bound New York Giants announced a formal partnership to host a new online videogame competition and community portal for Giants fans, NFL fans, and videogaming enthusiasts everywhere.

The new Giants Game Day Live portal gives fans of all NFL league teams and gamers a forum to compete in multiple fun and interactive year round videogame tournaments.  Anchored by the EA Madden NFL 08 videogame, the official competition will begin coinciding with the onset of training camp (although Pre-Season matches can be played now) and will exist across multiple platforms, including the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.  Players who sign up can choose which “Team” they wish to represent for the entire season.  By joining the tournaments and community, fans everywhere will be able to track their stats, rankings and leaderboard online, while chatting and making lifelong friends in a true “blue” Giants community.

“I put my soul into cheering for the Giants over the years, and I cant tell you how ecstatic I am that theyve reached the Super Bowl! Theyre my passion, but so is gaming. With Giants Game Day Live, were bringing together the excitement of both to deliver the culture of videogames for players of all levels looking to experience a high-level online gaming tournaments.” said GGL Chairman Ted Owen.

All fans will be competing for prizes, including premier tickets to future Giants home games, official Giants’ Gear, and NFL footballs signed by Giants players. The new tournaments will be promoted across Giants media properties including FOX5 and My9 television stations in New York, the flagship station of the Giants 660 WFAN as well as Giants.com.

“Giants fans are increasingly utilizing the internet to enhance their involvement with each other in the truest sense of community and we are partnering with GGL to provide our fans with best-in-class videogame technology. This expanded partnership with GGL gives our fans a new conduit to connect with each other beyond Giants Stadium and not just during the season but throughout the entire year,” said Mike Stevens, New York Giants SVP and Chief Marketing Officer. “Giants fans have a wonderful affinity and love for their team and this addition to Giants.com will be extremely popular. New York Giants fans will never have an off-season again.”
